Variety is special of the day at Jeffrey Evans auction Feb. 16-17

MT. CRAWFORD, Va. – The Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates Winter Variety Auction contains everything from antique marbles and vintage movie posters to country furniture and silver coins. The 1,208-lot auction will take place over two days, Friday, Feb. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 17. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Friday’s session, beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern, should start the weekend off with a bang and features part one of the 65-year collection of Barbara Sisson of Charleston, W.Va. One portion of the Sisson collection includes over 500 antique marbles, including many excellent swirl, onionskin and sulphide examples, all as-found and fresh to the market.

The other portion of the Sisson collection includes a massive hoard of American coins, including gold pieces, over 2,000 silver dollars and large quantities of other silver coins.

Wrapping up the Friday session will be the Col. Frederick Hornick, Hedgesville, W.Va., collection of 300-plus pieces of Blenko glass (top photo), including rare vintage examples and modern limited-edition pieces.

Saturday’s session, beginning at 9:30 a.m., should prove to be equally exciting and features the following categories:
–Country furniture and accessories.
–Victorian furniture and stack bookcases.
–Collection of 20th-century American illustration art and other artwork.

–Vintage railroad signage and memorabilia.
–Large selection of Civil War letters and other historical material.
–Collection of clipped signatures including Thomas Edison.

–Ceramics including a collection of antique carpet balls, flow blue, art pottery, beer steins.
–Music machines.
