MT. CRAWFORD, Va. – Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates’ annual winter glass and lighting auction will offer an important and varied selection of 18th to 20th century American and European wares in two sessions. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Session one commences Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time and will include over 800 lots of 18th and 19th century glass and lighting from the collections of the late Dexter Charles Wright of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; the late Kenneth W. Lyon of Fisher’s Hill, Va.; and Charlotte and Louis Fischer of Lynchburg, Va. The American glass category features a fine selection of 19th century blown wares; a collection of early pressed open salts; colored Sandwich glass vases and candlesticks; lighting from the whale oil to early kerosene periods including rare cut overlay examples; bottles and flasks; antique paperweights; and flint early American pattern glass.
European glass is highlighted by a fine collection of 18th century English wine glasses, a varied selection of 18th and 19th century Continental glass including Bohemian, fine cut overlay wares, and a collection of Overshot glass with applied snakes.
Session two begins on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 9:30 a.m. and will consist of over 1,000 lots of 19th and 20th century glass and lighting.
Featured will be the Ellen O’Brien studio glass collection of Sarasota, Fla., including over 300 paperweights plus sculpture and other forms by many important artists highlighted by Delmo Tarsitano, David Graeber, Rick Ayotte, Sonja Blomdahl, Laura Donefer, Benjamin Moore, Charles Lotton, Richard Satava, Robert Mickelsen, Emma Varga, Ann Wolff, Steven Weinberg, Christopher Ries and Michael Taylor; outstanding art glass including fine Durand and Steuben; rare Victorian opalescent glass and lighting including barber bottles; other Victorian glass of all types; cut glass; non-flint EAPG; and novelties.
